OSU Extension Internship

The OSU Extension Summer internship is an 8-10 week paid internship available to college juniors and seniors and graduate students. College junior, senior or graduate student refers to the intern's school classification for the fall semester following the internship. Interns will learn the duties and functions of a County Extension Educator and will be given one or more special projects to develop and administer.

County Host Site Application and Information

The application is now an online submission.  Below are some helpful hints for preparing your application.

  •  Complete application in one sitting
  • Type responses to questions in Word and copy and past into the application if not completing in one sitting
  • The County Internship Budget form is posted below.  Be sure to complete and save in this file name format to upload in application.  File Name Format: County Name_Intern Budget Form 
  • The Budget Form may be uploaded in Excel or PDF
  • You may come back to your application at a later time if needed by simply going back to the website and clicking on the link to access the application again. 

Below are the questions to develop answers for prior to completing application online.  

  • Internship Objectives:  The internship experience should encompass the whole Extension program, not just one program area. Describe:  Reasons for applying for placement of an intern; goals you have regarding the internship; projects you would like to accomplish with the intern.
  • Have you ever supervised and intern in the past? If so, who and when?
  • Supervision: Describe your strategy for supervising an intern, including training and assisting them with accomplishing the goals of an internship.
  • Availability: What is your preferred start date and end date for an intern?
  • Are there any dates you feel are very important for an intern to participate in and/or observe?  Please provide names and dates of events.
  • If known, provide information regarding potential housing options for the intern at low or no cost.
