AgrAbility Information Available:
The Oklahoma AgrAbility Project will be at the Tulsa Farm Show,
December 12-14, at Expo Square. If you or someone in your
community has a question about the AgrAbility Project, please
take time to visit the informational booth. Also, if anyone has a
meeting or other upcoming event and would like an AgrAbility
presentation or booth, contact Rachael Kircher at 405-744-2398.
Pesticide Program: The Oklahoma
Certified Pesticide Applicator Training and Testing will take
place January 8-9 at the Tulsa County Extension Office, 4116 East
15th Street. The event will include Service Technician or Core
Exam Training and Testing on the first day, in addition to
Ornamental and Turf Outdoor Pest Control (Category 3a) Testing
and Training on the second day. For more information, call Brian

This is the final issue of Extension News for 2002. The next

Fee Waivers Due January 6: Fee waivers
for the 2003 Spring Semester should be submitted no later than January
6, five working days prior to the first day of class on January
13, to 245 Ag Hall. The Study and Education Form should
accompany the fee waiver and be signed by your County Extension
Director, District Extension Director, Department Head, and/or
appropriate Unit Administrator. Please allow plenty of time to
get these forms in by the deadline. PLEASE NOTE NEW
POLICY: if you miss the deadline, the fee waiver WILL
NOT be honored, no exceptions. No letters of explanation
will be accepted. Both the Fee Waiver and Study and Education
Forms are kept in Ag Mailing Services and you can request them by
calling 405-744-5823. Also, as a reminder Distance
Education Courses do have additional fees, and in-service
training does not require a fee waiver form. If you have
questions, please contact your County Extension.
If your class is cancelled, you decide to drop your class, or if
you change your study and education form, call 405-744-6550 so
your records can be updated. Also, check your Bursar invoice to
make sure you received the fee waiver. You should contact the Fee
Adjustment Office at 405-744-6866 if you have questions.
Douglas is Living Well:
Edwina Douglas, Lincoln County Extension Educator, and Vice
President for Public Affairs for Oklahoma Extension Association
for Family and Consumer Sciences, will participate in a
nation-wide promotion of Extension Family and Consumer Science
programs entitled Living Well. The Living
Well public service announcements will emphasize
programming in Adult Nutrition, Finance, Child Nutrition, Home
Environment, and Parenting, along with a generic PSA about Family
and Consumer Sciences. The PSAs are targeted to begin airing in
mid-January on local and nation-wide TV and radio.
Cleveland County Rocks: Cleveland
County was just selected as a demonstration site for the Health
Rocks! program. As a demonstration site, they will receive a
$5,000 grant from the National 4-H Council to conduct tobacco
education in after-school programs. Brenda Hill, Cleveland County
Extension Educator, 4-H Youth Development, and two 4-H members
will participate in the training in early January and will begin
program implementation in mid-February. Other counties selected
as demonstration sites in Oklahoma were Dewey, Texas and
Marshall.
Krenzer Is a Jolly Good Fellow:
Gene Krenzer, Small Grains Extension Specialist, was recognized
as Fellow in the American Society of Agronomy during the
groups annual meetings in Indianapolis this past November.
Krenzer has been a leader in wheat research and Extension in
Oklahoma since 1981.
He is best known for his efforts to provide producers the latest
information on wheat management with special emphasis on wheat
used for both forage and grain in the same crop year. He is
responsible for developing the term first hollow
stem, and drawing attention to the economic value of
removing cattle by first hollow stem to maximize return in a
wheat-stocker cattle system.
Congratulations to: Scott Gillin,
Cimarron County Extension Educator, Agriculture/4-H Youth
Development, and his wife, Cheryl, on the birth of their first
child. Neecie Jean Gillin was born November 21. She weighed 5
pounds, 12 ounces, and was 18 3/4 inches long.
Congratulations to: Carl Wallace,
Extension Educator, 4-H Youth Development Muskogee County, and
his wife, Wendy, on the birth of their son, Clayton Dean Wallace.
He was born November 29. He weighed five pounds, 12 ounces, and
was 18 1/2 inches long. He is welcomed home by big sister Megan.

Lucas, retired Agriculture Educator in Garvin County. He passed
away November 10. Funeral services were held on November 14 at
the Fitzhugh First Baptist church. Memorials may be made to the
Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Parkinsons Research,
or the Fitzhugh First Baptist Church Building Fund. Cards can be
sent to his wife, Sally Lucas, at Rt. 1, Box 33, Roff, OK 74865.

Prater, Area Extension Secretary at the Oklahoma Panhandle
Research & Extension Center. She passed away November 18. She
had worked for OCES since February 1974. A memorial service was
held on November 21 at the Victory Memorial United Methodist
Church in Guymon. Memorials may be made to the church in
Judys name. The address is Victory Memorial United
Methodist Church, 623 N. Rosevelt, Guymon, OK 73942.

Assistant, Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service, on the death
of her mother, Marcene James. She passed away November 15.Funeral
services were held on November 19 at the Oak Grove Baptist

On-Line Scholarship Application: The College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources on-line scholarship application for the 2003-2004 academic year is now available on the CASNR website. Lesgislative Intern: Jodi Stephens, an Agricultural
Economics major from Bristow, OK, will serve as the 2003 Ag
Legislative Intern for CASNR. She will work with the Chairs of
the Senate and House Agriculture Committess in the Oklahoma State
Legislature. She will be located full time at the State Capital
this spring, and can be contacted in Senator Bruce Price's
office.
