Environmental Expo: The Oklahoma Environmental Expo will take place February 7 at Metro Tech
in Oklahoma City. This event is an opportunity to get new ideas for
environmental programming for county Extension offices and 4-H programs.
Extension Educators are encouraged to attend. More information about the program

Travel and registration will be covered for the first four Extension Educators

Deadline Approaching: February 8 is the deadline to register to participate in 4-H Day at a
Cowgirl Basketball Game. The OSU Cowgirls will take on Iowa State University on
Sunday, February 17 at Gallagher Iba Arena. Forms and more information can be

New Grants: Mike Schnelle, Extension Ornamental
Floriculture Specialist, and Bill Farris, Prairie Wind Growers, received a
$7,500 grant from the Kerr Center for Sustainable Agriculture, Poteau, for Specialty
Bulb Production in Oklahoma. Schnelle
and Farris will serve as the principal investigators. In addition, Schnelle,
along with Pat Bolin, Assistant Extension Specialist, will serve as principal
investigators for a $25,000 grant from Southern Region IPM Special Grants
Program for A Systems Approach to Provide Ornamental IPM Training Using Conventional
and Electronic Delivery Methods. Kathleen Kelsey, Assistant Professor,
Agricultural Education, Communications, and 4-H Youth Development, will serve as
the project evaluator.
Condolences to: David Freeman, Extension Equine
Specialist, on the death of his father, Johnny Freeman. He passed away January
9. Funeral services were held January 11 in Gatesville, TX.
Condolences to: The family of Phil Kennedy, retired Mayes
County Extension Educator, who passed away January 15. Funeral services were
held January 18 at the First Baptist Church in Pryor. Cards or letters may be
