Livestock Judging Camp: The Annual Oklahoma State University Youth Livestock Judging Camp will
take place July 23-25. Tips, techniques and key information about livestock
species will be showcased. Registration forms are available through all OSU
Cooperative Extension county offices. The cost is $180 per person if paid by
July 18, $200 thereafter. For more information, contact Mark Johnson at

State 4-H Meeting: The OAE4-HA Annual Meeting will take place July 31-August 2 at the Holiday
Inn Airport Hotel in Oklahoma City. Meeting registration is due by July 10, and hotel reservations are due by July
17 in order to receive the conference rate. Conference information was in
the spring issue of Perspective. For

Conference Cancelled: The Extension Conference scheduled for January 21-23, 2003, will not be held as planned.

Additional Grant: Mike
Schnelle, Extension Ornamental Floriculture Specialist, and Bill Farris, Prairie
Wind Growers out of Noble, OK, recently received an additional $2,500 grant from
the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry to grow and market
field grown specialty bulbs in Oklahoma. The grant will supplement earlier funds
awarded by the Kerr Center, Poteau.
Award Winner: Tom Royer,
Entomology and Plant Pathology, will be honored with a first place national
award at the NACAA Meeting in Savannah. The award is for his entry in the NACAA
Communications Awards Program.
New Name: The Oklahoma
Department of Agriculture has changed its name to the Oklahoma Department of
Agriculture, Food, and Forestry. The mailing address and phone numbers have
remained the same.
Rexwinkle Kidney Fund Established: Jo Dee Rexwinkle, past Northeast District 4-H President and daughter of Rick Rexwinkle, Extension Educator, 4-H Youth Development in Osage County suffered kidney failure earlier this week. 4-H leaders in Osage County have established an account in Jo Dee’s name to help the family with medical expenses. Contributions can be made at any Bank of Oklahoma office or mailed to the:

Congratulations to: Dwayne Skidgel Extension
Educator, Agriculture/4-H Youth Development and CED, Pawnee County, and his wife
Lori, on the birth of their son. Conner Blayne Skidgel was born June 6. He
weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces, and was 19 1/2 inches long.
Condolences to: Ron Dahlgren, Senior Radio-TV
Producer/Director, Agricultural Communications Service, and his wife, Jackie, on
the death of his father, Arthur W. Dahlgren. He passed away June 8. Funeral
services were held June 15 under the direction of Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home,
Winchendon, MA. Memorials may be made to Jaffrey-Rindge VFW Memorial Ambulance

Dr. Joe Williams, professor of Agricultural Economics and Director of the Oklahoma Agriculture Leadership Program has been appointed to the directorship of the Initiative for the Future of Rural Oklahoma. Dr. Williams will assume his new duties on July 1.
