1. Unable to shutdown/restart machine after VirusScan is installed.
a. One possible solution is to not allow VirusScan to scan floppy disks on
shutdown. To disable this feature:
i. Right-click the mouse while the arrow is over the Vshield icon in the
system tray (which is located in the bottom, right corner of the desktop).
ii. From the menu, choose Properties, then System Scan.
iii. Make sure the System Scan is highlighted. Uncheck the "Scan
floppies on Shutdown" feature. Click the Apply button. Click the OK
button.
b. One scenario that seems to cause a problem is logging into Novell
Netware after the Service Pack 1 and/or a SuperDAT has been applied. That is,
if VirusScan has been upgraded to Service Pack 1 and/or the scanning engine
has been upgraded to version 4.1.40 (or greater), AND the user logs into the
Novell Netware system, the system cannot be restarted or shutdown without
receiving a Fatal Exception Error. This problem has been confirmed only on a
machine running Windows 95. In this case, the solution is to either (a) not
log into Netware, or (b) not upgrade VirusScan to SP1 or update the scanning
engine using the SuperDAT/autoupgrade facility.
