Current Events

Cotton Production Meeting: The 2009 Cotton Production Meeting is slated April 16 at the Southwest Research and Extension Center in Altus. Registration and sign in for CEUs will begin at 8:30 a.m. Topics on the agenda include insect and weed control with chemicals, cotton plant mapping, harvest aids and their application and boll weevil update. Those who plan to attend are asked to RSVP to Karen Coggeshall at 580-482-8880 by April 9.

Announcements

Luper Elected to Office: Charles Luper, Extension Associate, Pesticide Safety Education Program, was elected treasurer of the Pesticide Stewardship Alliance during the group’s recent meeting in Albuquerque, N.M.

Condolences to: Nancy Dunlap, Southeast District Program Specialist, 4-H Youth Development, on the death of her brother-in-law. Mike Deming passed away March 29. Funeral services took place today, April 3, at the Harvey-Douglas Centennial Chapel, Ardmore. Cards may be sent to Nancy at 1303 Mockingbird Lane, Ada, OK, 74820.

Condolences to: Tom Smith, Extension Educator, Agriculture/4-H Youth Development, Pushmataha County, on the death of his father. Carl Ward Smith passed away March 22.  Funeral services took place March 24 at the Mills Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Antlers. Cards may be sent to Tom at the Pushmataha County Extension Office, 306 SW B, Antlers, OK  74523.

Condolences to: Gerri Ballard, Extension Educator, 4-H Youth Development, Carter County, on the death of her mother-in-law. Lucille Ballard passed away March 19.  Funeral services took place March 21. Cards may be sent to Gerri at the Carter County Extension Office, 107 1st.
