Current Events

Resource Fair Slated in Payne County: The Payne County Extension office is hosting a Micro Business Resource Fair and Conference Oct. 22 at the Payne County Expo Center. The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The conference is designed for small and home-based business owners who are looking for an educational opportunity, as well an opportunity to meet other small business owners. Luncheon speaker will be Brian Whitacre, Extension Agricultural Economics Specialist, who will talk about doing business on the Internet. Partnering with the Payne County Extension office to host this event are the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce, the Robert. M. Kerr Food and Ag Products Center, Meridian Technology Center – Center for Business Development, and Stillwater Radio. Conference registration is $15 and that includes lunch. Announcements

Condolences to: Brandy Watkins, McClain County Extension Educator, 4-H Youth Development, on the death of her husband. Josh Watkins passed away Oct. 6. Funeral services took place Oct. 10 at the Dibble High School gym. A memorial fund for Brandy’s children has been set up at the 1st National Bank of Chickasha (Blanchard Branch).  It is called the Josh Watkins Memorial Fund. Cards may be sent to Brandy in care of the McClain County Extension Office, P.O. Box 1505, Purcell, OK  73080-1505.

Congratulations to: Susan Routh, Grady County Extension Educator and CED, Family and Consumer Sciences/4-H Youth Development; Brenda Gandy, Stephens County Extension Educator , Family and Consumer Sciences /4-H Youth Development; Lisa Taylor, Jefferson County Extension Educator, Family and Consumer Sciences/4-H Youth Development; and Ranel Lasley, Caddo County Extension Educator, Family and Consumer Sciences/4-H Youth Development, for winning the 2009 Don Felker Financial Management Award from the National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences during the National Meeting in Birmingham, Ala., in September.
