PODS Presentation Via Centra: Gayle Hiner will give a Centra presentation on Print on Demand on Aug. 7 at 10:00 a.m. The presentation will cover searches (including advanced searches), navigation within the site and ordering. Centra is an online conferencing system. The basic requirements for using Centra are a computer with speakers and an internet connection. As a participant you can listen, raise your hand, ask questions, share information and lead a discussion. If you have any questions about Centra or if you have problems accessing the meeting, please contact Dwayne Hunter by e-mail at tdh@okstate.edu or by phone at 405-744-5536.

AWARDS 

OAEAA Members Receive Awards: The Oklahoma Association of Extension Agriculture Agents held its 2009 Annual Meeting and Professional Improvement Conference in Stillwater July 8-10. Lt. Gov. Jari Askins spoke at the banquet and thanked OAEAA members and all extension educators for the contributions they have made to make Oklahoma communities what they are today. The 2009 OAEAA “Friend of Extension” award went to Verlin Hart from Lincoln County. Farming in Agra, Verlin has partnered with OCES educators and specialists on state youth projects, on-farm demonstrations, farm tours and cattle meetings. Officers of the National Association of County Agriculture Agents who attended the 2009 OAEAA AMPIC included: Phil Pratt, NACAA President-elect and Tulsa County CED; Dirk Webb, NACAA Southern Region Senior Director and Washita County Agriculture and 4-H Educator and CED; and Alan Galloway, NACAA Southern Region Director and Tennessee Area Farm Management Specialist.

 Member awards included:

  • Distinguished Service Award – Bill Burton, Northeast Area Agricultural Economics Specialist with 27 years of Cooperative Extension Service.
  • Distinguished Service Award – Randy Pirtle, Washington County Agriculture and 4-H Educator and CED with 23 years of Cooperative Extension Service.
  • Outstanding Young Agent Award – Brian Pugh, Haskell County Agriculture and 4-H Educator and CED.
  • Outstanding State Specialist Award – Rusty Gosz, Extension 4-H and Youth Livestock Specialist.
  • Search for Excellence in Livestock Production – Greg Highfill, Northwest District Area Livestock Specialist.
  • Communications Award Team Newsletter – Daniel Skipper, Southwest District Area Agricultural Economics Specialist and J.J. Jones, Southeast District Area Agricultural Economics Specialist.
  • Communications Awards for: Presentations, Personal Column, Direct Mail Piece, and Feature Story - Greg Highfill, Northwest District Area Livestock Specialist.
