FAPC to Hold Crisis Management Seminar: The Robert M. Kerr Food & Agricultural Products Center on the Oklahoma State University-Stillwater campus is holding a Crisis Management Seminar on Feb. 19 at 10:30 a.m. in room 201 of the FAPC. The seminar will feature Will Daniels, quality, food safety, and organic integrity vice president for Natural Selection Foods/Earthbound Farm in San Juan Bautista, Calif. Daniels and the company received some experience in crisis management when an Escherichia coli O157:H7 outbreak was linked to its fresh spinach sold under the Dole brand.

A free lunch will be provided after Daniels’ presentation. In addition, participants are invited to view research posters and listen to oral presentations as part of a research symposium sponsored by the FAPC, Institute of Food Technologists - Oklahoma and Oklahoma Grocers Association. The FAPC/IFT-OK Research Symposium will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 19, 2008, and will highlight food and agricultural products research conducted by the FAPC and OSU.

2008 Oklahoma Dairy Days: The 2008 Oklahoma Dairy Days Management Conference will take place Feb. 19, Stillwell, Electric COOP Building; Feb. 20, Chickasha, Grady County Fairgrounds; and Feb. 21, Pryor, Mayes County Extension Office, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. The mission of the Oklahoma Dairy Days is to address current and relative issues facing the dairy industry. This program is geared toward dairy producers, agribusiness personnel, veterinarians, and Extension educators. Registration is $10, which includes lunch and one copy of the Dairy Days proceedings. Cedar Eradication Conference: Oklahoma landowners who have questions or concerns about cedar trees on their land should make plans to attend the 2008 Cedar Eradication and Utilization and Brush Control Conference on March 26. The event will take place at the Hughes County Fairgrounds Expo Center in Holdenville, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Topics will include ecology management, practical applications of fire, alternative use of cedar and chemical controls. The conference also will include demonstrations and a tour. Registration is $12 prior to March 21 and $17 after that date and at the door. This fee includes lunch. Congratulations to: Anglia Smith, 4-H Program Assistant, Pushmataha County, on the birth of her grandson. Blake Allen Skaggs was born Jan. 17, weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces, and was 20 inches long.

Congratulation to: Rhonda Richmond, Extension Educator, Family and Consumer Sciences/4-H Youth Development, Woodward County, on her marriage. She married Bill DeVor on Jan. 26.

Condolences to: Travonna Baker, former Greer County employee, First Steps Program, on the death of her son. Dustin Baker passed away Jan. 23. Funeral service took place Jan. 29. Condolences to: Kevin Gragg, TV Producer/Director, Agricultural Communications Services, on the death of his father. William Gragg passed away January 24th. Condolences to: Melanie Matt, Extension Educator, 4-H Youth Development, on the death of her father-in-law. Roy Bender passed away Jan. 31. Funeral services took place Feb. 2 at the First United Methodist Church in Shattuck.

Condolences to: The family of Clara Jane “Matlock” Kelley, retired Extension Home Economist, Oklahoma County. She also worked in Comanche and Carter counties. She passed away Feb. 5. Funeral services take place today, Feb. 8, at 11:00 a.m. at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, Abilene, Tex. Memorials may be made to the Benevolent Fund, Windcrest Alzheimers Care Center, 6050 Hospital Dr., Abilene, TX  79606.

Condolences to: The family of Bethel Simmons, Unit Assistant, College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resoureces. She passed away Feb. 6.  Funeral services will take place Sat., Feb. 9 at 11:00 a.m., at Stout Funeral Home, 409 S. Wewoka Ave, Wewoka, Okla.
