ANNOUNCEMENTS

Oklahoma 4-H’ers Meet the Challenge: Oklahoma 4-H’ers came together and raised more than $2,300 to help the Extension families in Greensburg, Kan., who lost their homes in the tornado a few weeks ago. Charles Cox, State 4-H Program Leader, challenged the group during State 4-H Roundup that if they raised $2,000 in 24 hours he would shave his head. The club members enjoyed seeing Charles lose his locks on stage during Roundup’s closing assembly.

In addition to these funds, the group also presented a check for $1,662.89 to Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity as part of the Dime Drop project. They are raising money to help fund a home for a low-income family.

The Ronald McDonald Pull-Tab Campaign netted 4,180 pounds of aluminum, which means approximately 836 families could be housed at the Ronald McDonald House for a week. Through the Ronald McDonald Kids Helping Kids Campaign they raised $31,180 this year.

The goal of the “Each One Reach One” program was to have active members recruit, enroll, and mentor one new member in their local club. Twelve clubs participated and enrolled 39 new members.

New State 4-H Officers Elected at Roundup: Eight new leaders emerged during the 86th State 4-H Roundup as they were elected to serve as the 2007-2008 state officer team. The new officers are Jerret Sanders, president, Caddo County; Matthew Sandmann, reporter, Atoka County; Matthew Taylor, secretary, Pontotoc County; Alyssa Latty, songleader, Pittsburg County; Stephanie Bowen, Southwest District state vice president, McClain County; Randy Gordon, Northwest District state vice president, Dewey County; Tanya Steidley, Southeast District state vice president, Pittsburg County; and Cody Clovis, Northeast District state vice president, Muskogee County.

Congratulations to: Kari Nunneley, Extension Educator, 4-H Youth Development, Oklahoma County, and her husband, Brad, on their birth of their daughter. Kylie Nunneley was born May 22, weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces, and was 21 inches long.
