 CURRENT EVENTS

Cucurbit Educational Meeting Slated Dec. 15:  The Grady County Fairgrounds in Chickasha will be the site of the 2006 Oklahoma Cucurbit Vegetable Production and Marketing Meeting on Dec. 15. The meeting will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Cucurbit crops have a significant impact on the agricultural industry in the state on both large and small scales. For more information about the meeting, or to receive a meeting flier, contact Jim Shrefler, Area Horticulture Specialist, at 580-889-7343.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Scholarship Applications Due by Dec. 8: The guidelines and application form for the William F. Taggart Scholarship are now online at http://intranet.okstate.edu/scholarship/. The application can be downloaded into a Microsoft version.  If you do not have access to these items through the Internet, please call Linda Turner at 405-744-5398 and she will send you a copy of both. Applications are due in 255 Ag Hall on or before Friday, December 8, for the spring semester. Applicants should forward complete applications to their District Extension Director for approval. The District Extension Director will then forward applications to 255 Ag Hall for review by the selection committee.

Reminder: Applications are being accepted for Oklahoma Gardening Ambassadors. The deadline to apply is Dec. 1. Interviews will be conducted Dec. 4-8 and Dec. 11-15. For more information, please contact Stephanie Larimer at 405-744-5404.

Congratulations to: Rhonda Ellison, Harmon County Secretary, on the birth of her grandson. Tristan Lee Ellison was born Nov. 6, weighed 6 pounds, 11 ½ ounces, and was 19 ½ inches long. His parents are Scotty and Mandi Ellison.

Congratulations to: B.J. Cummins, Harmon County Extension Educator, Agriculture, and Interim CED, and his wife, Destiny, on the birth of their daughter. Cara Bradley was born Nov. 14, weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces and was 21 inches long.  Cara joins big brother, Cooper, who is 3 years old. 

Condolences to: Phillis Cothren, Garvin County Extension Educator, Family and Consumer Sciences/4-H Youth Development, on the death of her mother. Mildred Ann McKiddy passed away Nov. 6. Funeral services were held Nov. 11 in Stratford.
