ANNOUNCEMENTS

Wildlife Expo was a Big Success:  Hunting and non-consumptive uses of wildlife are an important part of what makes Oklahoma a great place to live, and also contribute dollars to local communities. The high level of interest in natural resources was demonstrated recently when approximately 30,000 people attended the Wildlife Expo held near Guthrie. Cooperative Extension was represented by several displays and activities. Members of the Natural Resource Ecology and Management Department contributed a booth on prescribed fire.  The Northwest District office and surrounding counties manned a booth on protection from solar radiation. 4-H Shooting Sport volunteers recruited new members and adult leaders. The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation used a Stream Trailer to demonstrate stream stewardship principles. The Central Chapter of Master Naturalists based in the Oklahoma County Extension Office manned an indoor booth offering activities for kids as well as an outdoor bird feeding area with observation blind.
