NOTES FROM THE ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

Dean Candidate Seminar: The first candidate for the DASNR Dean and Director position is on campus and I trust many of you were able to participate in Dr. Robert Whitson’s seminar via of video streaming yesterday.  Please return your “input form” to Academic Affairs by noon on March 1.  Information may be found at http://osu.okstate.edu/acadaffr/AdministrativeOpenings-DASNR.htm.

CURRENT EVENTS

OEAFCS Annual Meeting: The Oklahoma Extension Association for Family and Consumer Sciences (OEAFCS) will hold its annual meeting April 6-8 in Oklahoma City. This year's theme is "Mirror, Mirror, On the Wall, I Do Look Professional After All." Margaret Smith and Gladys Nokes will be on hand to address the group about professional dress. The Impact Design Team also will meet on April 6 and the conference will kick-off that evening. A letter containing more details will be sent out via pouch mail in mid-March.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

4-H – Food for the Soul: The State 4-H Volunteer Board invites parents, volunteers and extension educators to come sample the palette of food 4-H offers. On July 23, the Leadership Development Conference will take place at OSU.  The event promises to feed and nurture the 4-H soul. A fresh format and a variety of tasty treats will be presented for participants to draw from while gaining new ideas from one another. The State 4-H Volunteer Board will be accepting workshop proposals through March 1. A blank proposal is posted at http://agweb.okstate.edu/fourh/volun02/Eduopp.htm.

 Condolences to: The Family of Wendy Hatcher, Family Support Worker with the Healthy Families Program, Canadian County. She passed away February 18. Funeral services took place February 22 in Minco. Donations are being collected to help the family with expenses. For more information, contact Carole Garner at the Canadian County Extension Office at 405-262 -0155.

 COLLEGE CORNER

Livestock Team Makes Its Mark: The OSU Livestock Judging Team finished as the 5th high team overall in the Southwestern Livestock Expo that took place February 4 in Ft. Worth, TX. The team also placed 1st in cattle judging. Team members Jeana Sankey placed 7th overall, and Chris Fishbacker placed 8th overall. Cole Gardner placed 2nd and Jared Jennett placed 5th in cattle judging. On February 12 the team placed 2nd at the Dixie National competition in Jackson, MS. Tyler Norvell placed 6th and Chris Fischbacker placed 8th in the individual competition.

 Quadrathlon Team Competes: The OSU Quadrathlon Team was runner-up at the Regional Academic Quadrathlon that took place February 5 at the Southern Section of the American Society of Animal Science meetings in Little Rock, AR.  Team members are Ryan McCollum, Michael McGee, Aimee Rueber, and Zac Pogue.
