NOTES FROM THE ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

We are well along the path in getting field staff positions filled.  This is indeed an exciting time!  It was wonderful to visit with so many new educators last week as they were in Stillwater for orientation training.

All of us recognize that there are significant holes in Extension and Research areas that support our abilities to serve Oklahoma citizens.  We are in the early stages of developing a strategy for working to seek additional support to allow us to fill a number of these important areas.

The Extension system was incredibly important during the 2004 legislative session both related to the Extension initiative and working with the OSU system and all of higher education in the changes that were passed related to the retirement system.  We will again all have to work together to be successful with our strategy in 2005.  As the timing is right, we will let you know what you can do to make a difference – your assistance in the past is exactly what has made that difference and your dedication and hard work is appreciated!

National 4-H Conference A Little Over A Week Away:  We are looking forward to helping host the nearly 1,100 educators from across the nation who will be attending the upcoming NAE4-HA Conference in Oklahoma City, October 31 – November 4.  We look forward to this being a highly successful event and thank all of you who have worked so diligently to plan this event.
