Current Events

Early Retirement Incentive Update: Final approval for federal early retirement authorization has not been received. We remain in contact with the CSREES person assigned to our request. He remains optimistic that approval is forthcoming. Meanwhile, it is now clear that we must adjust the date by which persons wishing to take early retirement must notify Sue Bonner’s office. We will set that date as soon as federal approval is received.

OEAFCS Annual Meeting: The annual OEAFCS meeting will take place in Norman on April 9-11. The event will be held at the Villager Inn, 1200 24th Street. All OEAFSC members should have received
registration letters by now. The deadline for registration is next Friday, March 28. Please be sure to wear your OSU nametag. For more information contact Micah Treadwell, Tillman County Extension Educator, at 580-335-2515.

Oklahoma Litter Market: The Oklahoma Litter Market is designed to help buyers connect with sellers to move litter out of nutrient-sensitive watersheds to places where it is needed. Extension educators with agricultural responsibilities are encouraged to spread the word about the Oklahoma Litter Market and its website. The address is http://www.ok-littermarket.org . The website provides a listing of sellers, buyers, and haulers. There are two ways to join the Oklahoma Litter Market: 1. Use the website; or 2. Call the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture’s Litter Hotline at 1-800-583-7131. The Litter Market website and the free soil test were advertised in the March issue of the Farmer-Stockman, so Extension Educators may start receiving calls about this issue.
