Deadline Nearing: March 27 is the deadline to register for the annual Oklahoma Beef Congress, slated April 3. The event will take place at Oklahoma Feeders Inc., at Meridian, OK, eight miles east of Guthrie. The program will include a tour of the feedlot and a look at spring born steers in the Oklahoma Steer Feedout Program. Announcements

Quilt Supports OAE4-HA: 4-H’ers in the Northeast District who attended the 2001 Youth in Action Conference have donated a handmade quilt to OAE4-HA in an effort to support the National 4-H Agents’ Conference that will be held in Oklahoma in 2004. Donations are $1 per chance or $5 for six chances. The quilt features colorful squares with illustrations of OSU, Pistol Pete and a variety of 4-H logos. Award Winner: Sarah Kimball, Assistant Extension Specialist, Rural Development, was presented the “President’s Achievement Award” during the Oklahoma Association for Environmental Educators Expo. The award is presented annually to an Oklahoma educator who exhibits personal and professional commitment to environmental education and demonstrates outstanding achievement in this field.

Condolences to: Rosalyn Weston, Senior Secretary, 4-H Youth Development, on the death of her sister, Linda Kay Hunter, who passed away February 15. Funeral services were held February 18 at the Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Arlington, TX.

Condolences to: Margaret Essenberg, Interim Department Head, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, on the death of her father, Frank J. Kottke. Funeral services were held February 20 in Pullman, WA.
