Listening Sessions Are In Full Swing: The Oklahoma Community Listening Sessions started this week. Preliminary reports indicate the meetings are going well and have been well attended. The Master Calendar for the Listening Sessions is updated on a regular basis and can be found at http://www.dasnr.okstate.edu/oces/ocls . The web site also has a link to a MS PowerPoint presentation that county Extension Educators can use as a tool for their opening and closing comments. The Listening Sessions scheduled for the next couple of weeks are listed below in Coming Events.

Announcements

OQBN Web Page Is Updated: The Oklahoma Quality Beef Network (OQBN) web page has several new and updated items, including online registration of calves, a new OQBN brochure, an updated vaccine list, new enrollment deadlines, and updated certification requirements. The web site is located at http://www.ansi.okstate.edu/exten/oqbn. For more information about the program, contact the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association at 405-235-4391, or Animal Science Extension at 405-744-6060.

Positions Filled: Four Nutrition Education Assistant (NEA) positions have been filled in the Northwest Unit’s Community Nutrition Education Program (CNEP). Chrissi Hayes, Logan County, Vicky Smart, Garfield County, and Valerie Taylor, Lincoln County, all have filled NEA positions with the Oklahoma Nutrition Education (ONE) Program. Amy Moery, Garfield County, has taken on the NEA role with the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP).

Cattle Call: Oklahoma Beef Incorporated (OBI) has announced its Central Bull Test fall delivery schedule. Angus cattle born in January or February 2002 should be delivered to OBI on October 4 and 5. Hereford and Salers cattle born December 2001 through February 2002 should also be delivered to OBI on October 4 and 5.
