CURRENT EVENTS

President Schmidly’s Town Hall Meetings:  Thank you to all Extension staff who were involved in the telecast of President Schmidly’s Town Hall Meeting last night. Providing citizens from across the state the opportunity to participate was a success due in part to the efforts and commitment of the Extension staff and it is greatly appreciated! I trust most of you had the opportunity to attend and heard the very supportive comments from the President about Cooperative Extension and all of the Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. Again, thanks for a job well done!

You can obtain more information regarding spyware at http://whatis.techtarget.com/definition/0,,sid9_gci905446,00.html. Indications that your machine may have spyware include:

* Your system runs noticeably slower than it did before.

* You receive pop-up advertisements when you are not using a web browser.

* The page you see when you start a web browser has changed without your knowledge.

* A new item appears in your favorites list without you putting it there.

To find out how to remove spyware, go to http://dasnr.okstate.edu/support/faq.htm  or contact your Extension Technology Specialist at http://dasnr.okstate.edu/support.

Muske Honored: Glenn Muske, Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service Home-Based and Micro Business Specialist, has been invited to participate in a think tank sponsored by the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) in May of this year. The group's focus will be on "Motivating Americans to Develop Constructive Behaviors." The goal is to develop strategies to stimulate constructive financial behaviors among Americans. Muske's selection for the group was due to the work he did for his dissertation which examined how and why real world families spend their money.
