CURRENT EVENTS

Much Thanks for All You’ve Done:  Time is drawing to an end and we continue to have great hopes for the Extension initiative to pass through the House and Senate before the legislative session ends next Friday, May 28.  If you happen to come in contact with your legislator, continue to ask for their support for the Extension initiative as well as House Bill 2226 concerning the OSU Retirement System currently being considered by the legislature.  As you chat with folks, it is good to keep nudging on these issues.  We are hearing many positive remarks and look forward to receiving word that your efforts have been fruitful at sessions end.  Much thanks for ALL you have done!!!

Good News Just In Regarding HB 2226:  Information just received from President Schmidly states that today the Oklahoma House of Representatives passed HB 2226 and it must now pass the Senate and be signed by the Governor in order to become law.  The Senate will take action on this measure next week.  If you see your Representative, say thanks; if you see your Senator, encourage them to support it.

Procedure for Updating Your OSU ID Card:  Several online applications, including the Program Activity Reporting System (PARS) and the In-Service Enrollment System, require the use of your OSU ID Number as authentication to the application. This number is found on the front of your OSU ID Card. For many folks who have older cards, the OSU ID Number is the same as their social security number.  Within the past year, OSU has modified the process used to generate these numbers so that the SSN is no longer part of the OSU ID Number. Using a new OSU ID Number reduces your risk of potential problems including identity theft. As you have the opportunity to visit campus, you may have your new id card created in ID Services located in room 432, Student Union. We are evaluating alternatives that would provide new OSU ID Cards to off-campus personnel without having to visit campus. As information becomes available you will be updated on this process through Extension News and email messages distributed through the email listserv.
