Latitude 36 To Make NFL Appearance: When the NFL’s Washington Redskins open their home season this fall, they will do so on a new playing surface sodded with an award-winning turf bermudagrass created by researchers at Oklahoma State University. The team announced it will install OSU’s Latitude 36 at FedEx Field this month.

Students Gain Experience at County Offices: College students are gaining Extension experience this summer as they serve an eight-week stint in counties across the state. The internship program gives students the opportunity to explore careers in food, agriculture, environmental fields, natural resources, family and consumer sciences and community and youth development. Interns this summer include Ethan Green, Adair County; Summer Riggins, Canadian County; Tristin Dean, Cherokee County; Kristina  Bautista, Grady County; Justine Reeves-Barth, Logan County; Terra LaRue, Noble County; Danielle Curtis, Oklahoma County; and Meredith Lowry, Washita County.

Condolences to: Penny King, Extension Educator, Family and Consumer Sciences/4-H Youth Development, Nowata County, on the death of her father. Donald Babst passed away May 31. Funeral services took place June 4 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairland. Cards may be sent to Penny in care of the Nowata County Extension Office, Box 231, Sallisaw, OK  74955.

Condolences to: Sheila James, Nutrition Education Assistant for CNEP, Oklahoma County, on the death of her husband. Donald James passed away June 1. Funeral services took place June 5 at the Luther, Okla., high school gym. Cards may be sent to Sheila at 10000 Moccasin Lane, Harrah, OK  73045.
