CURRENT EVENTS

Vegetable Production Educational Meeting Slated: Oklahoma market garden growers, commercial farmers, agricultural supply businesses and gardeners who want to learn more about vegetable production should plan to attend the 2012 Oklahoma Vegetable Production and Marketing Educational Meeting slated Dec. 13, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Chickasha at the Grady County Fairgrounds. A $10 registration fee is required and it covers all meeting literature, lunch and refreshments. Registration deadline is Dec. 3. Mail checks payable to Grady County Extension to the Grady County Extension Office, 828 West Choctaw, Chickasha, OK 73018, or call 405-224-2216. OK-FIRE Fall Workshops Continue: The OK-FIRE training workshops are continuing throughout the end of the year. Both abbreviated evening sessions (7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.) and full-day sessions (9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) will be available. Registration is required, but is free.  Registration is still open for the following locations:  Poteau, Idabel, Ardmore, Antlers, and Stillwater.  All workshops will be directed by OSU fire meteorologist J. D. Carlson, OK-FIRE Program Manager. The link to the full announcement, which includes information on the workshops and how to register, can be found here.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Congratulations to: Lindsey Miner, Extension Educator, Family and Consumer Sciences, Noble County, and her husband, Mark, on the birth of their daughter. Piper Lane was born Nov. 14, weighed 5 pounds, 10 ounces, and was 17 inches long.

Condolences to: Dea Rash, Extension Educator, Family and Consumer Sciences, Payne County, on the death of her grandmother. Aileen Hardwick passed away Oct. 31. Funeral services took place Nov. 5 in Lamont, Okla. Cards may be sent to Dea at 6 Roka Ridge, Stillwater, OK  74075.

Condolences to: Joyce Haney, Nutrition Education Assistant, Bryan County, and her husband, Bobby, on the death of their son. Robert Haney passed away Nov. 10. A memorial service will take place today, Nov. 16, at 1:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Durant. Cards may be sent to Bobby and Joyce Haney, 962 S. Acorn Hill Rd., Caney, OK  74533.
