Ag Producers May Apply for Right to do Prescribed Burn: The Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association has worked with Gov. Mary Fallin to allow landowners to apply for an exemption for agriculture burning during the statewide burn ban. Agricultural producers have a genuine need to be able to manage their cropland, range, and pasture. However, producers must complete the current form available from the Forestry Services Division of the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (Form AG-2012-01); have the form approved, in writing, by the local fire department with suppression responsibility for the area being burned; construct adequate firelines and have sufficient personnel and equipment on hand to control the fire; wind speeds must not exceed 15 miles per hour; and must notify neighbors of the planned burn. Producers may download the form here.
