CURRENT EVENTS

Leafy Greens and Onion Transplant Production Field Meeting: Mark your calendar for March 8 and attend the Leafy Greens and Onion Transplant Production Field Meeting that will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wes Watkins Agricultural Research and Extension Center at Lane. This event will address leafy green production in hoop houses, as well as the nutritional value and uses of these vegetables. This is one of four locations of a project that is being conducted to explore the productivity of nine different leafy greens crops in hoop houses. The meeting also will feature the production of onion transplants in hoop houses. The program will begin with a tour of the leafy greens and onion projects in the high tunnels before going indoors to hear presentations by Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service Family and Consumer Sciences Educators on the nutritional and dietetic value of these vegetable crops and how they can be used in our diets. A noon meal will be served that will include some of the greens crops.  Please register by March 5 in order to assure enough meeting materials and food. To register or for more information, please contact Jim Shrefler at jim.shrefler@okstate.edu, or call 580-513-5544.
