OK-FIRE Workshop Slated: The first of several OK-FIRE training workshops will take place Nov. 10 in Drumright from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For information and to register, please contact J.D. Carlson at jdc@okstate.edu.

Turf Conference to be Held: The 66th Annual Oklahoma Turf Conference will take place Nov. 15-16 at the Wes Watkins Center on the OSU campus in Stillwater. The Oklahoma Turfgrass Research Foundation, the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service, and Oklahoma State University are working together to host this event. The conference is geared toward three groups of people in the turf industry: golf course managers, community and professional lawn and landscape companies and athletic field managers or coaches with turf responsibilities. Online registration is $160 and includes all conference activities, educational sessions, trade show pass, lunch both days and Oklahoma Turfgrass Foundation Association membership. Mail-in registration is $180 and must be postmarked by Nov. 7 to ensure it arrives in time to receive the reduced rate. On-site registration is $200. Students may register at no cost, but lunch will not be provided. For additional information, please visit the OTRF website at www.otrf.net.

Tree Care Conference: Tree Care Conference is slated Nov. 16 at The Botanic Garden at Oklahoma State University located west of Stillwater. The conference is geared toward arborists, nursery professionals, urban foresters, landscape managers, landscape architects, Master Gardeners, related professionals and advanced hobbyists. Registration is $80, includes lunch, and must be postmarked by Nov. 7. Extension Educators, Master Gardeners, OBGA members and students (with student ID) may pre-register at the discounted rate of $55. No late or day of registration will be accepted. ANNOUNCEMENTS

Congratulations to: Melanie Taylor, Extension Educator, Family and Consumer Sciences, McIntosh County, and her husband, Jerry, on the birth of their daughter. Maggie Marie was born Oct. 24 and weighed 4 pounds, 13 ounces. She is welcomed home by big brothers Reed and Carson, and sister Elizabeth.
