Five Dates Remaining for OK-FIRE Training Sessions: There are five more OK-FIRE training opportunities that will take place throughout the remainder of 2010. Still Time to Register for 2010 Cucurbit Meeting: Those interested in attending the 2010 Cucurbit Production and Marketing Education Meeting have until Dec. 8 to register. The meeting will take place Dec. 16 at the Grady County Fairgrounds in Chickasha. Additional details on the program and registration is available at www.lane-ag.org or by contacting the Wes Watkins Agricultural Research and Extension Center at 580-889-7343, or by e-mail at jim.shrefler@okstate.edu.

Save the Date for Solid Waste Symposium: The 2011 Oklahoma SWANA (Solid Waste Association of North America) Spring Symposium is scheduled for March 8-10, 2011, at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Catoosa. Topics include tire recycling, illegal dumping, green house gas updates, shingle recycling, stormwater issues, plus tours of the Lafarge Cement Plant and Sand Springs Landfill.  The three-day symposium is hosted by the Oklahoma Indian Nations chapter of SWANA with sponsorship from the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service, Solid Waste Management Programs.  The final program and registration forms will be available soon. For information about sponsorship or exhibit space, contact Sherry Greathouse at 918-207-3515 or sherry.greathouse@cn-bus.com

Cimarron County Office Now Open: The Cimarron County Extension Office reopened Nov. 29. Nickolas Risley is the new County Extension Educator, 4-H Youth Development, and CED. The office phone number is 580-544-3399 and the fax is 580-544-3390. It is great news that there is now an Extension office in all 77 counties.

4-H History Book Makes a Great Christmas Gift: Just in time for Christmas is a holiday special on Oklahoma 4-H: Generations of Clover. Order your copy of the Oklahoma 4-H history book for $27 (including tax and shipping). Bulk orders of 5 or more are $20 each plus s/h (for a total of $26.50 each). Congratulations to: Jessica Riggin, Lincoln County Extension Educator, Family and Consumer Sciences/4-H Youth Development, and her husband Zach, on the birth of their daughter. Amelia Dean was born Nov. 16, weighed 5 pounds, 13.5 ounces and was 19 inches long. Congratulations also goes out to Cindy Clampet, Love County Extension Educator, FCS/4-H Youth Development, and her husband Ron. Amelia Dean is their granddaughter.

Congratulations to: Aaron Henson, Tillman County Extension Educator, Agriculture/4-H Youth Development, and his wife, Jennifer, on the birth of their daughter. Lucy Erin was born Nov. 21, weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces, and was 18.5 inches long. She joins big brother Cooper.

Congratulations to: Cody Linker, Lincoln County Extension Educator, Agriculture/4-H Youth Development, and his wife, Ashley, on the birth of their daughter. Preslee Raelynn was born Nov. 24, weighed 2 pounds, 8 ounces, and was 14 inches long.

Condolences to: The family of Brent Westerman, Research Scientist/Senior Director, Field and Research Service Unit. Brent passed away Nov. 18. Funeral services took place Nov. 22 at Sunnybrook Christian Church in Stillwater.
