Retirement Party Slated for Green: After a 34-year career with Extension, Clara Green, Extension Administrative Support Specialist in Grady County, is set to retire. Please join the celebration Dec. 9, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Grady County Extension Office, 828 W. Choctaw, Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Laverty Set to Retire: Following an Extension career that began in 1972 and covered several counties, Carol Laverty, Extension Educator, Family and Consumer Sciences/4-H Youth Development Specialist, Harper County is retiring. A retirement reception to celebrate will take place Dec. 15 at the Harper County Extension Office, 1001 N. Hoy, Buffalo, Oklahoma, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please RSVP by Dec. 9 to Araine Cash at 580-735-2252, or via email at araine.cash@okstate.edu.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Horticulture Judging Contest Expanded: Starting next year, the identification part of the Horticulture Judging Contest will be expanded to include a new category, Turfgrasses and Weeds, as well as additional specimens in the other categories. The updated list is on the OSU Horticulture and Landscape Architecture webpage here. The contest occurs in the fall each year, in conjunction with other 4-H contests in Entomology, Agronomy, and Consumer Sciences. Junior and senior 4-H youth compete in horticulture identification and judging and then go over the correct answers before going on a tour of the OSU teaching greenhouses. Participants will conclude with a fun, hands-on activity. For more information, contact Shelley Mitchell at 405-744-5755.

Congratulations to: Lani Vasconcellos, Southeast District Family and Consumer Sciences Program Specialist, on her marriage to Paul Williams. The couple were married Nov. 12. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Williams!

Condolences to: Barbara Brown, Extension Food Specialist, on the death of her mother. Jerrine “Jerry Reed passed away Nov. 18. Funeral services took place Nov. 22 at the First Presbyterian Church in Gardner, Kansas.

Condolences to: Shannon Hill, Administrative Support Assistant in the Southeast District Extension Office, on the death of her father. George Heck passed away Nov. 20. Funeral services took place Nov. 25 at the First Baptist Church in Coalgate, Oklahoma. Cards may be sent to Shannon at 11895 County Road 1550, Ada, OK  74820.
