Retirement Reception Set for Gallaway: A retirement reception to celebrate Max Gallaway’s 34-year career with Extension is slated Dec. 16 in the Prairie Room of the Stephens County Fairgrounds from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. If you cannot attend, but would like to send your congratulations, please mail to Southwest District Cooperative Extension Office, c/o Kelli Barnett, 1309 W. Ash Ave., Duncan, OK 73533. Gallaway is the Agriculture Educator and CED in Stephens County.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Invitation to Join ESP: Extension employees at the county, district, area, and
state levels who have completed five or more years of service with OCES, are
invited to joint Epsilon Sigma Phi. ESP is a national organization with no promotion
of any agenda or gain. In the words of its founder William A. Lloyd, “We
stand to work not for self, but for the good of the whole Extension
organization. Our creed expresses our articles of faith, our obligation, a
personal pledge of fine toleration, helpfulness, sympathy and a never dying,
always enduring optimism.”
Annual dues for
renewing members are $45, and $50 for new members. This includes state and

Amaya Provided Keynote Address: Lauren Amaya, CNEP Nutrition Education State Specialist, was invited to provide the keynote address at the World Diabetes Day celebration at the Oklahoma State Capitol Nov. 14. This annual event is planned and hosted by the Oklahoma Legislative Diabetes Caucus with community partners. Sen. Roger Thompson, R-Okemah, and Sen. Frank Simpson, R-Springer, serve as chair and vice-chair of the state’s diabetes caucus.
Save the Date: The 2017 No-till Oklahoma Conference will take place March 7-8, 2017, at The Grand Casino Hotel and Resort, 777 Grand Casino Blvd, Shawnee. Early registration is $125 and due by Feb. 17. After that date, registration is $150. Registration information is available here.

Condolences to: The family of Monroe Sumter, retired Extension Educator and CED in Carter and Hughes County. He passed away Nov. 5. Funeral service took place Nov. 9 in Holdenville.
AWARDS
Bonjour Recipient of International Award: Congratulations to Edmond Bonjour, Director, Oklahoma Agricultural Leadership Program, for being named the recipient of the 2016 Outstanding International Leadership Program Director Award. He received the award during the recent annual International Association of Programs for Agricultural Leaders in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was recognized for his innovations in leadership development in Oklahoma, being a mentor to directors of emerging agricultural leadership programs, and his dedicated support of IAPAL. Congratulations Edmond!
