Final Concert in the Garden Rescheduled: Due to a couple of dates getting rained out, the last of the Concerts in the Garden series will take place June 7, 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at The Botanic Garden at Oklahoma State University. Bring your blanket and lawn chairs and enjoy the music of Monica Taylor and the Red Dirt Ramblers.

Still Time to Register for Greenhouse Workshop: There are still a few days left to register for the Current Challenges in Floriculture workshop slated June 11 in Stillwater. Registration is $25 and due by June 2. Register now as no late or walk-in registrations can be accepted. This workshop is geared toward  greenhouse or garden center professionals and plant hobbyists who are interested in learning more about ornamental plant production and marketing. Participants may register online at https://secure.touchnet.com/C20271_ustores/web/index.jsp. Select Horticulture/Landscape and then click on Conference Registration. Retirement Reception: Following 35 years of service to OCES, Chris Rice, Southeast District Area Extension Agronomy Specialist is retiring. Please join in the celebration of his career at a retirement reception slated June 24 at the Pontotoc County Extension Office, 1700 N. Broadway, Ada. The reception will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Congratulations to: Zach Meyer, Extension Educator, Agriculture, and CED, Kingfisher County, and his wife, Kayla, on the birth of their daughter. Kinlyn Marie was born May 14, weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces, and was 20 inches long. She is welcomed home by big brother Kruz. Congratulations!

Condolences to: Mike Woods, Department Head, Agricultural Economics, on the death of his mother. Betty Jo Woods passed away May 11. Funeral services took place May 16 in Van Buren, Arkansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sparks Women’s Auxiliary, 1001 Towson Ave., Fort Smith, AR 72901; or the Alma Education and Arts Foundation, P.O. Box 2359, Alma, AR  72921. Cards may be sent to Mike and Mary at 5812 Trenton Avenue, Stillwater, Ok 74074-1176.

Condolences to: The family of Myra Angeline Whitehead, retired Extension worker. She passed away May 11. Funeral services took place May 14 at Olive First Baptist Church in Drumright. Myra began her Extension career in 1949 as the Home Demonstration Agent in Ottawa County. Her 32-year career also took her to Lincoln County, Tulsa County, and the Northeast District before retiring in 1981.


Moffat Receives Scholarship: Congratulations to Susan Moffat, Extension Educator, Community Development, and CED, Cleveland County, for receiving Epsilon Sigma Phi’s Richard R. Angus Professional Development Scholarship. She used the funds to offset the cost for attending the National Urban Extension Conference in Atlanta earlier this month. Congratulations Susan!
