CURRENT EVENTS

Weight Loss for Pets: Aaron Herndon, a veterinarian with the OSU Center for Veterinary Health Sciences, will present a free seminar about weight loss for pets. Weight Loss for Pleasantly Plump Pets will take place at 7:00 p.m., Oct. 7 in McElroy Hall on the OSU campus. Research by the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention shows 53 percent of dogs and 58 percent of cats are overweight or obese. This can lead to a number of health problems for your pet. The seminar is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, please call 405-744-7672.

OK-FIRE Fall Workshops Slated: J.D. Carlson, OSU fire meteorologist and OK-FIRE program manager will direct five one-day workshops throughout the state this fall. Dates and locations include Ardmore, Oct. 14; Bartlesville, Oct. 29; Woodward, Nov. 11; Altus, Dec. 10; and Stillwater, Dec. 16. OK-FIRE is an operational weather-based decision support system (http://okfire.mesonet.org) for wildland fire managers throughout Oklahoma.  Users include multiple federal and state agencies as well as local fire departments, emergency managers, and private landowners.

There is no cost for the workshops, aside from travel costs to and from the location. Additional information can be found  here.
