Coon and Allen Join Administrative Team: Please join me in welcoming Dr. Thomas Coon and Dr. Kevin Allen as they join our administrative team as the Vice President, Dean and Director, DASNR, and Assistant Director, State 4-H Program Leader, respectfully. They both will officially begin their new duties July 1.
Tom comes to OSU from Michigan State University where he served as Director of Extension, as well as a professor in the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife. During his time at Michigan State he has directed more than 600 staff and faculty on campus and in Michigan’s 83 counties. He earned a B.A. in Biology from Luther College, and received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Ecology from the University of California-Davis. He has served on the board of trustees for the National 4-H Council and the Michigan 4-H Foundation, and in 2013 he received the Gary L. Davis Award for leadership in 4-H.
Kevin previously served as an associate professor in the Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management, as well as State 4-H Extension Specialist, with responsibility as the State Coordinator of the Oklahoma 4-H Shooting Sports Program. He has developed and conducted in-service opportunities to Extension educators related to youth programs in environmental and natural resources. He also was instrumental in bringing back the 4-H High Adventure Program. Kevin also has taught numerous workshops on topics ranging from birding, team building to forestry and using fire as a management tool. Prior to coming to OSU in 2006, he served as Community Development Specialist and County Program Director with the University of Missouri Extension.
Welcome, we look forward to working with you in the days ahead.
