CURRENT EVENTS

 

Registration Deadline Nears for Winter Crop School: Those interested in attending the OSU Winter Crop School must register by Dec. 3. The school is geared toward Oklahoma certified crop advisors, agricultural retailers, OSU Cooperative Extension professionals, and others with an interest in agriculture and will take place Dec. 10-11 at the Wes Watkins Center on the OSU campus in Stillwater. Registration is $125 for both days of the school or $75 for a single day. Online registration is available at http://orangehub.okstate.edu. Click on Agricultural Conference Services and then select OSU Winter Crop School. Registration forms are available online at www.wheat.okstate.edu and forms and payment should be mailed to Ag Conferences, 430 Student Union, Stillwater, OK  74078. Congratulations to: Shannon Ferrell, Assistant Professor, Agricultural Law, and his wife, Cara, on the birth of their son. Shawn Timothy was born Nov. 7, weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces, and was 20 inches long. Shawn also is the grandson of Dixie Ferrell, Northeast District Extension Director.

COLLEGE CORNER

 

Students Receive Recognition: Several students were recognized by the American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, and the Soil Sciences Society of American during the groups’ international meetings in Tampa, Fla., earlier this month. Award winners include:

  • Jordan Beehler and Andres Patrignani – 1st place in the poster competition in the SSSA Soil Physics Division
  • Alex Barerio, 1st place in the poster competition in the CSSA Crop Ecology, Management, and Quality Division
  • Eric Miller – 1st place in both oral and poster competitions in the SSSA Soil Fertility and Plant Nutrition Division
  • Emily Landoll – 2nd place, Students of Agronomy, Soils, and Environmental Sciences speech contest
