CURRENT EVENTS

Winter Crop School: Oklahoma certified crop advisors, agricultural retailers, Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension professionals, and others with an interest in agriculture are invited to take part in the OSU Winter Crop School. Slated Dec. 10-11 at the Wes Watkins Center on the OSU campus in Stillwater, the Winter Crop School is designed to provide updates to crop advisors regarding current research and recent advances in agronomy. Registration is $125 for both days of the school or $75 for a single day. Online registration is available at http://orangehub.okstate.edu. Click on Agricultural Conference Services and then select OSU Winter Crop School. Registration forms are available online at www.wheat.okstate.edu and forms and payment should be mailed to Ag Conferences, 430 Student Union, Stillwater, OK  74078. Online and mail-in registrations are due by Dec. 3. There is a $20 late registration fee. International Trip Available Through 4-H Program: The Oklahoma 4-H program is looking for graduating 4-H members and incoming college students with an interest in sharing their knowledge in Central America. This will be the 6th annual trip to work with substance farmers and families teaching them basic gardening, composting, and food security. We will be traveling June 9-18, 2014. Registration deadline is Jan. 15, 2014 and the approximate cost is $2,000 which includes airfare, lodging, and most meals. This trip can also be taken for 3 hours college credit. We have had Extension Educators also attend in the past. More information is available at: http://oklahoma4h.okstate.edu/nica/. ANNOUNCEMENTS

Brown Elected to Office: Nick Brown, Faculty/Evaluator AECL/CASNR, was elected secretary by the Extension Education Evaluation Topical Interest Group (EEE TIG) at the annual meeting of the American Evaluation Association. Nick also copresented Evaluating Ideas, Evaluating Prospects: A New Model for a New Century of Evaluation Practice in Extension Education.

New/Updated Publications on PODS: There are a number of new and updated publications available on the Print on Demand System at http://osufacts.okstate.edu/docushare/dsweb/HomePage. New publications include:

Congratulations to: Tom Royer, IPM Coordinator, and his wife, Joleen, on the birth of their grandson. Oliver Logan Lawson was born Oct. 18, weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces, and was 21 inches long. Proud parents are Aaron and Kelly Lawson.
