Field Tours Reminder: This is a reminder that the Pushmataha Wildlife Management Area (WMA) and the Nickel Preserve are the sites for the Fire, Wildlife, Timber, and Cattle Grazing Field Tours. The Pushmataha WMA tour is slated Sept. 29, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and the Nickle Preserve tour will take place Oct. 13 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information, contact Terry Bidwell at 405-744-9618, or e-mail at terry.bidwell@okstate.edu.


Specialists Attending Meeting: Jim Criswell and Kevin Shelton with the Pesticide Safety Education Program attended the 53rd annual meeting of the Association of Structural Pest Control Regulatory Officials, along with Brad Kard of the Entomology and Plant Pathology Department.  The received updated information on major pesticide regulations affecting residential and commercial pesticides. The meeting took place this week in Denver, Colo.

Congratulations to: Mary Peck, Washita County Extension Educator, 4-H Youth Development, on her new grandson. Mary’s daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Tyson Morton, recently adopted 11-week old Trenton Luke Morton.

Congratulations to: Cindy Clampet, Love County Extension Educator, Family and Consumer Sciences, on the birth of her granddaughter. Camille Marie Anderson was born Aug. 7, weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces, and was 21 inches long. Her parents are Jon and Lacey Anderson.

Condolences to: Tommy Puffinbarger, Alfalfa County Extension Educator, Agriculture/4-H Youth Development, and CED, on the death of his granddaughter. Presley Lane Puffinbarger was born Aug. 27 and passed away Aug. 28. Funeral services took place Sept. 2. Cards may be sent to Tommy at 300 S. Grand Ave., Cherokee, OK, 73728.


Congratulations to: Kathie Bergmann, Program Supervisor of the Parent Child Connections program in Delaware County, who been selected to receive the 2009 Mary Ellen Wilson Award. The award recognizes a person who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and dedication to child abuse prevention activities in his/her community. Mary Ellen Wilson is the name of the child for which a child abuse case was first successfully prosecuted in the 1800’s in the State of New York. The annual award is given by the Oklahoma Interagency Child Abuse Prevention Task Force and will be presented during the opening session of the 17th Annual Oklahoma Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect and Healthy Families Oklahoma on September 21.
