Farm and Ranch Tour: The Bryan County Farm and Ranch Tour will take place July 20 in the Bokchito and Caddo area. For more information contact Clay Jones, Bryan County CED,  at 580-924-5312.

Winter Canola Conference Reminder: The 5th Annual Oklahoma-Kansas Winter Canola Conference is slated July 21 in the Hoover Building at the Garfield County Fairgrounds in Enid. For more information contact Mark Boyles, Extension Specialist – Canola, at 405-744-9600.


OkSARE to Host Workshops: Oklahoma Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education will be sponsoring several upcoming workshops. Grant Writing will take place Aug. 27 at OSU/OKC. The second workshop, Small Carcass Composting Training, is slated Sept. 20 and will take place at Langston University. The final workshop, Enhancing the Adoption of Organic Production, will take place at the OSU Botanical Garden on Sept. 21. Arnett Submits Information to Publication: Nancy Arnett, Family and Consumer Sciences Educator from Adair County, submitted information about Co-Parenting Through Divorce for an article, What Single Parents By Choice Need to Know in the Parenting Education Practitioners, for the“PEP Talk” Winter 2009 newsletter.  The article was written by Linda Carlson in reference to the needs of single parents and how parent educators can assist them as parents. 

Congratulations to: Steve Kraich, Texas County Extension Educator, on the birth of his granddaughter. Aubrey Rhea Dickinson was born June 27, weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces, and was 19 inches long. Aubrey’s parents are Savannah and Todd Dickinson.

Condolences to: Sue Bonner, Director, Agricultural Human Resources, on the death of her father. Earl Rose passed away July 1. A memorial service took place July 8 at the First Baptist Church in Henryetta, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Judith Karman Hospice in Stillwater or the charity of their choice. The address is Judith Karman Hospice, P.O. Box 818, Stillwater, OK  74076.


Smolen Honored: Mike Smolen, Extension Water Quality Coordinator, received the ASABE Blue Ribbon Award in the Educational Aids (Short Publications) category for Extension Fact Sheet BAE-1521 Phosphorus and Water Quality. Congratulations!
