Current Events

Dear Santa: At first I was disappointed that you forgot to bring me the little red wagon I have always wanted, but the gift card for the 2008 DASNR/OCES Conference on Jan. 22-24 (cleverly packaged as an approved travel request) more than makes up for it. I am so looking forward to networking with co-workers I don’t see often enough, people just like me who might have an innovative concept or two to share, ideas that might make my job more fulfilling and less demanding. Then there are the professional development and training sessions, some specific, others geared to day-to-day general operations, all of them affecting some aspect of what I do. And the speakers: Steve Van Wie, a nationally renowned expert in surviving bio-disasters; John Luthy, also nationally renowned and a futurist who knows how to get people and organizations on track to tackle an ever-changing world; and Jim Halligan, former OSU president and one of the nation’s foremost advocates of the land-grant mission made real. Also, OSU President Designate Burns Hargis will be speaking at the opening session of the DASNR Conference at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 23. All I need to do is remember to pack my professional business attire – yes, there is a dress code – and bring my parking permit and name tag. Thanks, Santa, for the conference is a gift that will keep on giving throughout the year, both professionally and personally.

PS -  Thanks for the heads-up that tickets might be available for the OSU Men’s Basketball game against the Texas Longhorns on Monday, Jan. 21, at Gallagher-Iba Arena. I understand they go on sale one week prior to the game on a first-come, first-serve basis. My friends and I may just have to contact the OSU Athletic Ticket Office at 1-877-255-4678 or 405-744-5745. Go Pokes!
