One Last Reminder: If you have an interest in the open Extension Educator positions as an internal applicant, remember applications are due by Monday, August 2. Current vacancy announcements may be viewed at http://dasnr4.dasnr.okstate.edu/jobs/vac_ann.htm.

Mark Your Calendar: The Oklahoma Beef Incorporated Fall 2004 Bull and Heifer Sale will take place at noon on October 21. More information is available by calling 405-744-6060, or 405-624-1181. Information also is available on the OBI Web site at http://www.ansi.okstate.edu.exten/OBI/.

Update on Stan Johnston: Many of you may know Dr. Stan Johnston, Vice Provost for Extension from Iowa State University, so I wanted to share this information with you. While attending the joint ESCOP, ECOP, ACOP, ICOP meeting in Orlando, Florida earlier this week, Stan suffered a stroke and still remains in the Orlando Hospital. Last word I received was somewhat encouraging, but I would like to ask you to please keep Stan and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Beef Cooking Schools: Thirty-two counties in Oklahoma received grants from the Oklahoma Beef Council to conduct Beef Cooking Schools. The cooking schools will focus on food preparation skills, nutrition, and food safety practices. Thirty-one of the grants were $600 and one was a $400 grant. Counties receiving grants include Atoka, Coal, McCurtain, Pittsburg, Pontotoc, Pottawatomie, Caddo, Canadian, Cleveland, Cotton, Custer, Jackson, Jefferson, McClain, Oklahoma, Stephens, Washita, Blaine, Dewey, Garfield, Grant, Kay, Logan, Major, Noble, Texas, Cherokee, McIntosh, Muskogee/Wagoner, Okfuskee, Payne, and Washington counties.

Fee Waivers Due August 13: Fee waivers for the 2004 Fall Semester should be submitted no later than Friday, August 13, five working days prior to the first day of class on August 23, to 245 Ag Hall.  The Study and Education Form should accompany the fee waiver and be signed by your County Ext. Director, District Ext. Director, Department Head, and/or appropriate Unit Administrator and then forwarded to 245 Ag Hall for processing.  Please allow plenty of time to get these forms in by the deadline.  If you miss the deadline, the fee waiver WILL NOT be honored, no exceptions.  No letters of explanation will be accepted.  Both the Fee Waiver and Study and Education Forms are kept in Ag Mailing Services and you can request them by calling 405-744-5823.

Also, as a reminder – Distance Education Courses do have additional fees and in-service training does not require a fee waiver form.  If you have questions, please contact your immediate supervisor as they have updated information regarding the policy on Fee Waiver and Study and Education Request Forms.

If your class is cancelled, you decide to drop your class, or if you change your study and education form, call 405-744-6550 so that your records can be updated.  Also, check your Bursar invoice to make sure you received the fee waiver.  You should contact the Fee Adjustment Office at 405-744-6866 if you have questions.
