Recognition Dinner: A recognition
dinner for Gerrit Cuperus, Regents Professor/Extension IMP
Specialist, is scheduled June 21 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the
Exhibition Hall of the Wes Watkins Center. He will be leaving OSU
at the end of June after a significant career of service. Tickets
for the event are $12 per person and reservations should be made
by June 14. Everyone is invited to write a note or letter for the
memory book that Gerrits colleagues and friends are
assembling. Feel free to send photos or other items of
memorabilia. If you send a written letter, please format it with
a 1.5 inch left margin. Reservations and letters can be mailed to

Hereford Conference: Oklahoma State
Universitys Department of Animal Science and the Hereford
Association are hosting the Hereford Directions
Summit conference slated June 20-22 at Stillwater. For more

Powell
Receives Recognition: Claire Powell, Extension
Educator, Family and Consumer Sciences, Oklahoma County, has been
awarded the Continued Excellence Award by the
National and Oklahoma Extension Association of Family and
Consumer Sciences. The award is based on proven leadership and
outstanding service in the Cooperative Extension Service. Powell
has been with OCES for 29 years and is recognized state wide as
an expert in food and nutrition safety issues.
Web Site is Among the Best: The web
site for Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Services Community
Nutrition Education Program (CNEP) is Among the Best.
Tufts University Nutritional Navigators online rating guide
for nutritional web sites recently awarded the title. The CNEP
web site can be viewed at http://www.fcs.okstate.edu/cnep
. This online rating guide was launched in October 1997 and is
the first that evaluates nutrition web sites based on accuracy,
depth, and usefulness of information.
New Address: The Choctaw County Extension Office
has a new mailing address. All items should now be mailed to 415
E. Rena, Hugo, OK 74343. The correct fax number is 580-326-3456.
OK Steer Feedout Update: Following each OK Steer
Feedout, meetings are scheduled to discuss the Feedout data and
review the cattle. This is a great opportunity for cattlemen
interested in the program to see the data that has been
collected. In addition to cattlemen, Extension Educators are
encouraged to attend and update themselves on the program. The
program had 270 spring born and 55 fall born steers last year.
Upcoming meetings will take place Monday, June 17 at 6:30 p.m. at
the Creek County Fairgrounds, 17806 W. Highway 66 at Kellyville;
and Tuesday, June 18 at 6:30 p.m., at the Garfield County
Fairgrounds, 316 E. Oxford, at Enid. Please RSVP by June 14 to

Condolences to: Karen Coggeshall, Office Assistant
in the Altus Area Office, on the death of her father, George F.
Fox. He passed away May 19. Funeral services were held on May 22
at the Geschwendt Funeral Home in Schuylkill Haven, PA.
