OMK Planning Event at Science Museum: The Oklahoma 4-H Operation: Military Kids program is hosting a lock-in at the Science Museum in Oklahoma City Sept. 24-25. This free event is open to military families and their children. An evening meal and breakfast will be served. The night will begin with fiery explosions and chemical reactions better known as Science Live! Participants will then go to the Omni-Dome to watch the featured film “Everest.” Events later in the evening will feature themed activities and fun 4-H projects. Registration is due by Sept. 8 and space is limited. Plan to bring a sleeping bag and/or air mattress as the group will be sleeping on the floor throughout the museum. 4-H Clover Classic Golf Tournament Slated Oct. 11: The 2010 Clover Classic Golf Tournament will take place Monday, Oct. 11 at the West Course of Oak Tree Country Club in Edmond, Oklahoma.  Please see the 4-H website at http://oklahoma4h.okstate.edu/ to download the brochure, or call 405-744-5390 for more information.


PSEP Hosts Training: The OSU Pesticide Safety Education Program (PSEP) in conjunction with the Inter-Tribal Environmental Council (ITEC) hosted a Pesticide Regulation Training Aug. 17-18 at the Pinkston Educational Facility for Structural and Urban Entomology in Stillwater. Representatives from nine different Oklahoma tribes attended the one and a half day training that covered Federal and State Laws for Pesticides, Pesticide Certification, and Unwanted Pesticide Disposal. Other topics included indoor pest control, bed bugs, and school IPM. On Aug. 18 the tribal members attended an inspection General Pest Applicators go through during initial certification at the Robert M. Kerr Food and Agricultural Products Center. The training ended with a commercial kitchen inspection at the Wes Watkins Center for International Trade and Development.

OALP Kicks Off Class XV: Class XV of the Oklahoma Agricultural Leadership Program (OALP) began its first seminar in Stillwater Aug. 25 and concludes today.  The main focus of this seminar was to get acquainted, learn about setting goals, understand and define leadership, get an overview of DASNR, and serve others. Edmond Bonjour, the new OALP Director, is very excited about the program and looks forward to working with the new class members. Congratulations to: Ruth Ann Landwehr, Extension Secretary, Garfield County, on the birth of her grandson. McCoy Colton was born Aug. 14, weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces, and was 21 ½ inches long. His parents are Matt and Angela Landwehr.
