Title: Special Nutrition and Food Stamp Analysis Projects

Abstract: The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), intends to award up to a maximum of five contracts.The types of work expected to be performed will include, but not be limited to data collections and data file development; creation and linkage of large, complex databases; quantitative (descriptive and parametric) and qualitative analyses of extant and new data; syntheses of special nutrition and food stamp related research; literature searches and reviews; mathematical modeling of programs and examinations of particular policy topics.

Award #3169 is for research. The grantee will conduct research in his or her area of expertise. Grantees may be asked to give some guest lectures on their research and conduct guest seminars and workshops at host university and other institutions. Specializations that are of particular interest include: social sciences, humanities, environmental studies, agriculture and forestry, education, information science, creative writing, and public health. Research areas of particular interest include sustainable development approached from a variety of disciplines – including anthropology, agriculture, economics, environmental studies and policy and environmental health - and communication and information policy approached from the perspectives of the disciplines of mass communications, law, public administration or library and information sciences. Collaboration with local scholars is desirable.

The Fulbright Scholar Program, the senior scholar component of the Fulbright Program, offers grants for college and university faculty, as well as for professionals and independent scholars. Approximately one-quarter are for research and three-quarters for lecturing, combined lecturing or research, or seminar participation. Multi-country research is offered in some regions.  Award #3426 is for lecturing or lecturing and research. The grantee will teach undergraduate and graduate courses and consult on curriculum development and staff training as requested. The grantee may also conduct research according to his or her interest. Areas of specialization acceptable for this award include anthropology, sociology, psychology, social work, political science, environmental studies, Ukrainian studies, agriculture, communications and journalism, history, philosophy, classics, comparative literature, cultural studies, translation theory, and other fields. Applicants are welcome to arrange affiliations and secure letters of invitation. In many cases, Ukrainian universities have requested lecturers in areas of specialization and invitations are not necessary. Applicants should contact CIES for detailed information.

Award number 3529 is for lecturing, lecturing and research, or research. The awarded will teach graduate or advanced undergraduate courses, engage in collaborative research, or combine both activities in his or her area of specialization.  The desires specializations are as follows:

·         Social sciences, applied fields and the humanities with preference in the following fields: binational business, international trade/NAFTA, international relations, border studies, demography/migration studies, environmental sciences, communication, comparative law, criminology in an international context, economics, education, heritage studies, library science, public administration, public policy, political science, public health, and urban planning

·         In the arts and related fields: arts administration, art and architectural restoration and conservation, art education, crafts, dance, music and theater, film and television, graphics (computer-aided and industrial design), history of art or visual arts Mexican universities have also indicated interest in recruiting U.S. professors in the fields of computer science and telecommunications, engineering, (manufacturing, metallurgical, electronic, and thermal engineering), agriculture (biological pest control and plant physiology), and international management and economics.
