not-for-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization established by Congress in 1990
to support the USDA Forest Service (FS) and its nation's forests and grasslands.
The NFF Matching Awards Program encourages community involvement in the
stewardship of national forest lands through the formation of goal-oriented
partnerships. By matching federal funds (provided to it under a cooperative
agreement with the Forest Service) to private dollars, the NFF is able to expand
the resources available to implement projects throughout the National Forest
System that directly benefit forest and grassland health. After a two-year
hiatus, the NFF's Matching Awards Program is being re-initiated in 2001, with
revised programmatic priorities and a focus on six geographic areas. A common
thread connecting NFF's four areas of emphasis - Collaborative Stewardship,
Watershed Health and Restoration, Wildlife Habitat Improvement, and Recreational
Opportunities Enhancement - is an interest in projects that enhance natural
community viability while considering benefits to people. URL: http://fundingopps.cos.com/cgi-bin/getRec?id=63005 ~~~~~~~~~ Title: Robert E. Wagner Award Sponsor: PPI Amount: $5,000 Deadline: December 31, 2001 Abstract: The Robert E. Wagner Award was established by the
Potash & Phosphate Institute (PPI) Board of Directors in 1988. The award
recognizes distinguished contributions to advanced crop yields through maximum
yield research (MYR) and maximum economic yield (MEY) management. The MEY
concept, also known as most efficient yield, provides a solid foundation for
meeting world food needs. The award recognizes outstanding achievements in
research, extension, or education that focuses on efficient management of plant
nutrients and their positive interaction in fully integrated crop production
systems that enhance yield potential. Such systems improve net returns, lower
unit costs of production, and maintain environmental quality. The British student's experience generally includes an academic year at a university, as well as travel. The McLaren Scholar is able to combine practical experience and study at several institutions. The program for the academic year provides periods for study, research, and practical work at the famous Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew and Edinburgh, as well as an optional university semester, when the fellow may have the opportunity to pursue a research project under the guidance of an advisory panel.
