Title:  Water Quality
Sponsor: USDA, CSREES, Integrated Research, Education, & Extension Competitive Grants

Deadline:  March 18, 2002

The amount available for support of this program in FY 2001 is approximately $9,348,773.

The Water Quality Program is targeted directly to the identification and resolution of agriculture-related degradation of water quality. Proposals are sought that will provide watershed-based information that can be used to: assess sources of water quality impairment in targeted watersheds; develop and/or recommend options for continued improvement of water quality in targeted watersheds; and evaluate the relative costs and benefits associated with cleanup from all responsible sectors (e.g., farming, processing, urban runoff, and municipal waste treatment). The program will favor proposals that have a clear problem statement and that are "place-based." "Place-based" means that the proposers have identified a specific location where the work is to be conducted so that the results and implications of the work conducted can be associated with a specific, geo-referenced location.
